Your motivation to lose weight will determine your success or failure. It doesn't matter what weight loss product or diet you use, it doesn't matter what exercise equipment you use, if you do not have the correct motivation to lose weight, you will ultimately fail to do so.
Lots of people focus their motivation on just a couple of things, it could be anything from gaining more confidence, to want to attract partners and have relationships. While these are all great methods, they are not enough.
Motivation to lose weight often starts to lag after a few weeks or months. Most people will know what i am talking about. Things start to become more difficult, you begin finding it harder and harder to stick to your diet or to exercise. This is a common and normal problem, and nothing to do with not having the willpower to see you through.
This is rooted in the beginning. Why did you want to lose weight? It could be because you want to become healthier, however if this was a prime reason to lose weight, then nobody would fail to do so.
You need to have lots of reasons to lose weight, not just a couple. The bigger your list of reasons, the bigger the motivation to lose weight will be. Another thing you have to do is to make a list of those reasons and write them down. Read this list at least a couple of times a day and think of the benefits of succeeding.
Ask yourself why do you really want to lose weight, think of how things will be. In your mind, try to see your future, as you would have it. Pretend that you are already where you want to be. Make sure that you get all of this written down.
How different will you feel on the inside?
How will you look?
How will other people percieve you?
What sorts of clothes will you wear?
What will you be able to do that can't do now?
How will it affect your relationships?
Would you be happier?
Keep a list of this and then create another one as to what will happen if you do nothing
How would it affect the way that you would look?
How will you feel?
What will others think of you?
What would your family feel if you became seriously sick?
Is this the role model that you want to be for your children?
What is going to happen when they get sick?
Will you be happy?
This is how to lose weight, read both of these lists daily, pin them to your wall in a couple of rooms so that they are always in your face. It's not important where you begin, what is important is where you end up. At the end of the day you do have choices as to whether you will or will not be losing weight.
Having the motivation is the most important step for any undertaking or diet program. Think of as many reasons as you can as to why you will not fail. The more your brain thinks it can get out of it, the more it will try to help you to get there.
